Who We Are
The Danish-Scottish Society was founded in 1986 and today has around 300 members.
We represent a friendly group of people living in Scotland that have an interest in or connection to Denmark, Danish culture, traditions and/or language. Some have been here for a long time and others are only here temporarily. We come from all walks of life and have lots of different interests.
The Danish-Scottish Society aims to promote cultural exchange between Denmark and Scotland. We organise and promote Scottish events, online and in-person, that have a connection to Denmark. This includes concerts and exhibitions featuring Danish artists, sporting events with Danish athletes, lectures on Danish subjects, and social gatherings to speak the Danish language and celebrate Danish traditions.
We act as a central point of contact for the Danish community in Scotland. This goes in both directions. We help the Danes interact with Scotland by providing support, guidance and opportunities to those moving to and living in Scotland. We also help Scotland interact with the Danes by providing information and facilitating interactions to promote knowledge exchange.
