The Danish-Scottish Society
Who We Are
The Danish - Scottish Society (DSS) was founded in 1986 and today has over 150 members. The members are people all over Scotland with links to, or a special interest in Denmark. The DSS arranges a wide range of events for all age groups, runs The Danish School in Scotland for 5-16 year olds and has a playgroup for 0-5 year olds. DSS is a member of the Confederation of Scandinavian Societies (CoScan).
Joining the Danish-Scottish Society gives you the opportunity to meet, network and chat in English or Danish with other Danes and people interested in Denmark and Scotland.
Some of the benefits include:
Member discount on events
Early sign-up to events
Enrolling children in the Danish School in Scotland
Free Danish-Scottish Playgroup
Newsletters about the latest events
We look forward to meeting you at our next event.
Can I attend events without joining?
You can attend some events without joining, however, you will not be able to take advantage of the member benefits, which include early sign-up and discounted events.
Is there a similar group for people interested in Scottish culture in Denmark?
Yes, our friends at the St. Andrew Society of Denmark is a well-established group running events for Scots living in Denmark. Please visit their facebook group for more information.
I need advice about something. Can you help?
We will do our best. You can either email us on email@example.com or you can ask the Danish-Scottish Network facebook page, which has around 750 followers with an interest in all things Danish.
Do I need to speak Danish?
No, you do not need to speak Danish. Many of our members only speak English. The Danish-Scottish Society is for anyone with an interest in Denmark and you are welcome to join and attend events.
